Star Trek Beyond - Review

Image
After docking at Starbase Yorktown, the USS Enterprise, halfway into their five-year mission, ventures into new dangerous uncharted territory. There, the Enterprise is destroyed by a new ruthless enemy with a deep hatred of the Federation, and strands Kirk and his crew on a remote planet with no means of communication. Kirk must then work with the elements to reunite his crew and get back to save Starbase Yorktown from this dangerous menace. Set a couple of years after "Star Trek into Darkness", Kirk and his crew are back in this adventure where they must face his deadlest enemy yet. While we don't get anything about what happened in the previous film, no mentions about Khan neither about Carol Marcus, who joined their crew at the end of the film but she disappears from this one with no explanation.  While the previous movies were more about the origins of the characters with a more dark tone and serious plot, this one is all about having fun with an unexpected missio

Suicide Squad - Review

Image
Figuring they're all expendable, a U.S. intelligence officer decides to assemble a team of dangerous, incarcerated supervillains for a top-secret mission. Now armed with government weapons, Deadshot (Will Smith), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Captain Boomerang, Killer Croc and other despicable inmates must learn to work together. Dubbed Task Force X, the criminals unite to battle a mysterious and powerful entity by the name of Enchantress (Cara Delevingne), who tries to dominate the world while the diabolical Joker (Jared Leto) launches an evil agenda of his own. Suicide Squad has been a long awaited movie since it was first announced, was the wait worth it? More or less. We get an easy and weak plot with too many characters to introduce but it is a fun ride after all.  The two big stars of "Suicide Squad" We have already seen that kind of movie, a bad guy shows up and a group of people must join forces to fight and save the planet. But this time we get the bad gu

Summer Movies Reviews

Image
While this may not be the greatest cinema summer ever, there has been some nice surprises, especially with sequels... lots of sequels. As there have been to many releases, I'm gonna do some "quick" reviews for each of them: :: X-Men - Apocalypse :: Set a few years after the previous film, this time a new villian named Apocalypse will try to rule the world and destroy all humans. The old cast is back with some new adds; while it was nice to see McAvoy and Fassbender together one last time and the amazing Quicksilver with his epic and funny slow-motion scene, there were some flaws like the choice of the young Cyclops and Jean Grey.  We also get to see a small "non-talking" cameo of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine during his Weapon-X storyline; that scene felt like it didn't belong there and raised more questions than answers with the new plot-holes. - What I liked most: Quicksilver's scene, the main duo together one last time, Fassbender's perf

The Shepherd Boy

Image
Besides some infamous tales by the Brothers Grimm, here's one of my favourites, simply called "The Shepherd Boy": There was once upon a time a shepherd boy whose fame spread  far and wide because of the wise answers which he gave to every  question. The king of the country heard of it likewise, but  did not believe it, and sent for the boy.  Then he said to  him, if you can give me an answer to three questions which I  will ask you, I will look on you as my own child, and you shall  dwell with me in my royal palace. The boy said, what are the  three questions.  The king said, the first is, how many drops  of water are there in the ocean. The shepherd boy answered, lord  king, if you will have all the rivers on earth dammed up so that  not a single drop runs from them into the sea until I have  counted it, I will tell you how many drops there are in the sea.  The king said, the next question is, how many stars are there  in the sky. The shepherd boy said,

Captain America: Civil War - Review

Image
:: Rated S.S. for "Super Spoilers - Read at your own risk :: With many people fearing the actions of super heroes after the events of past movies like "Age of Ultron", the government decides to push for the Anti-Hero Registration Act, a law that limits a heroes actions. This results in a division in The Avengers. Iron Man stands with this Act, claiming that their actions must be kept in check otherwise cities will continue to be destroyed, but Captain America feels that saving the world is daring enough and that they cannot rely on the government to protect the world. This escalates into an all-out war between Team Iron Man (Iron Man, Black Panther, Vision, Black Widow, War Machine, and Spiderman) and Team Captain America (Captain America, Bucky Barnes, Falcon, Sharon Carter, Scarlett Witch, Hawkeye, and Ant Man) while a new villain emerges with a plan to destroy the Avengers from the inside with a horrible truth involving Tony Stark and the Winter Soldier. Final Fantasy VII Remake - Open Letter to Square-Enix

Image
Dear Square-Enix Team & Tetsuya Nomura: This is an open letter from a huge fan of Final Fantasy. I've been playing those game for more than 20 years and while some other people may have a different opinion, this is just mine... While I've played all Final Fantasy games, Final Fantasy VII has a special place in my heart, it was my first FF and I had a special link with the characters, the story and Gaia itself. The game has so many memorable moments you cannot forget. I actually started playing the game again a couple of days ago and I cannot believe how amazing it was. That said, I was very happy by the news of you making a remake of that marvelous game. Then I heard you were making some "changes" in the story. That's okay, I'm open to changes as long as they are for best but there are a few things you cannot touch or it will be the start of a civil war in the internet. Some moments made Final Fantasy VII the game it was and that's untouchable.

The Jungle Book - Review

Image
Everybody remembers "The Jungle Book" thanks to the Disney classic cartoon and its unforgettable song "Bare Necessities". There have been so many sequels and remakes we thought this was another failure version but this time things are different thanks to this sweet and emotional adventure with some dark elements. A man-cub named Mowgli is taken to a wolf pack after he's found alone in the jungle by a panther named Bagheera. He gets older but feels different from the rest and after the tiger Shere Khan comes back to the jungle and threathens his wolf family, he decides to leave the jungle and go back with the humans until he discovers the tiger has killed the leader of the wolf pack and decides to bring justice back. In the way the young boy meets different creatures who will help him or try to eat him. Thanks to the realistic CGI and amazing special effects, we get to see the beautiful jungle and charismatic characters from the Disney classic. The old gang i

Doctor Strange!

Image
Afetr a long, long wait since the first time Marvel confirmed they were making an origins story of Stephen Strange, the first trailer has been released and it looks amazing! We only get to see a few moments and still don't know much about the plot but I cannot be more excited. "Doctor Strange" will be released on November 2016 starring Benedict Cumberbatch (from Sherlock, Star Trek into Darkness, The Imitation Game), Rachel McAdams and Chiwetel Ejiofor.  After his career is destroyed by a car accident, a brilliant but arrogant and conceited surgeon gets a new lease on life when a sorcerer takes him under his wing and trains him to defend the world against evil.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - Review

Image
:: RATED S.S. FOR SUPER SPOILERS - READ AT YOUR OWN RISK :: One of the most awaited movies of 2016 has arrived with huge expectations but horrible reviews claiming it's one of the worst super-hero films ever released... My personal opinion, it's just a different film that you can't compare to others. First of all, this is not a Marvel movie, I think people are used to movies like Avengers, Iron Man and Spiderman to name a few. The Dark Knight trilogy gave us a more serious tone and feeling but Batman v Superman is another story, not better either worse but different, it's a like it or hate it. Don't get me wrong, I love Marvel movies but the hate towards this film is too much. Right after the events of "Man of Steel", we see an older and cruelest Bruce Wayne who doesn't like Superman's actions after almost destroying the entire city of Metropolis and killing innocent lifes. He thinks Superman is dangerous and can destroy the entire planet e

Zootopia - Review

Image
Disney has done it once again, Zootopia takes us to a familiar story we've seen before with animals living in a huge modern city. Set in a parallel universe where humans never existed and animals took the role of intelligent beings living in modern era cities, using phones and taking selfies; a bunny called Judy Hopps dreams on becoming the first bunny police ever. After years of training she has the change of a mysterious case where some animals went missing after becoming wild and started attacking everyone (like animals nowadays). She gets the help of Nick Wilde, a fugitive fox who will put their differences behind to find those disappeared animals. The movie shows us a typical police action movie where the rokkie cop has to solve an impossible case in 48 hours but in the image of a city where animals live like we humans do. We see them taking the train to work, taking selfies, listening/dancing to music, looking for jobs and so on. This take has been done before in older mo

Deadpool - Review

Image
:: RATED "S.S." FOR SUPER-SPOILERS - READ AT YOUR OWN RISK :: After a long, long, long (that's what she said) wait, Deadpool has finally come, was it worth it the wait? Almost everybody claim this is the greatest super-hero movie ever made, I kinda disagree. This is the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson (played brilliantly by Ryan Reynolds), the merc with a mouth. After falling in love with a young stripper called Vanesssa he discovers he has a terminal cancer but not everything is lost after he meets a man who claims some people can cure him by experimanting on him with something called "Weapon X". The experiment is successful by giving him accelerated healing power and a deformed body by the scientist known as Ajax. After escaping, he becomes Deadpool, he will hunt him down but things get worse when Ajax kidnaps Vanessa in a attempt to finish him once and for all. Ryan Reynolds is back as Deadpool after the dis

What we know so far about Sherlock's 4th Season

Image
After the horrible news of Doctor Who (we have to wait until 2017 to see the new season!), there's also a few details of Sherlock's next season. Here's a small list about all those confirmed: 100% True: 1. It will be set in the current time back in London after the events of " The Abominable Bride ". 2. There will be three episodes in total (just the standard as always). 3. They are starting to shoot this spring (April-ish). 4. It won't be the last season, there's a 5th season already confirmed. 5. There will be a much darker tone than usual. 6. It will have an intense ending with consequences that will change the life of the main characters. 7. Moriarty is back but he's not alive. 8. Release date: January 2017! 50% True (possible spoilers, read at your own risk) 1. A secret organization, maybe called "The Red-Headed League" is using Moriarty's persona to fright everyone. This means the Moriarty seen at the scree

No Doctor Who until 2017 and here's why

Image
BBC has just confirmed the showrunner known as Steven Moffat has confirmed next season will be his last.  Moffat has been the lead writer and supreme ruler of Doctor Who since 2010 (season 5) and has done an amazing work showing us great stories about the Doctor where we got more than a surpirse... He's going to be replaced by the creator of another big hit called "Broadchurch" (starring the 10th Doctor himself, David Tennant), Chris Chibnall. Because of this and Moffat also working on the 4th series of Sherlock (coming out in 2017 too), we are only going to see a Christmas Special of Doctor Who at the end of the year and the 10th season starting in 2017!! That's a long wait but he's assuring us his last series will be the greatest of them all. Still we don't have any news if Peter Capaldi will continue after the 10th season...this reminds me a lot to David Tennant and Russell T. Davies back in season 4...

Sherlock's The Abominable Bride - Review

Image
:: Rated "S.S.S" for "Super Sherlock Spoilers" - Read at your own risk :: After two years of waiting, we finally get the special episode we asked for, kinda... Set in the original timeline as in the stories written by sir Arthur Conan Doyle, we are back to a 1880's victorian London, we get to see how the pair met for the first time and the way Sherlock's fame rises thanks to Watson's thrilling stories in The Strand. Later, inspector Lestrade shows up in Baker street with a puzzling case; a woman called Emelia Ricoletti, a bride gone mad, had fired on by-passers in the street from a balcony, before fatally shooting herself in the head through her mouth. Later that evening, she shows up again and conforts her husband still dressed as a bride, who shot him before disappearing into the fog. Intrigued by Emelia's apparent survival, Holmes takes the case. At the morgue, an antagonistic Dr Hooper informs Holmes that the woman who killed herself, the
