Summer Movies Reviews
While this may not be the greatest cinema summer ever, there has been some nice surprises, especially with sequels... lots of sequels.
As there have been to many releases, I'm gonna do some "quick" reviews for each of them:
:: X-Men - Apocalypse ::
Set a few years after the previous film, this time a new villian named Apocalypse will try to rule the world and destroy all humans. The old cast is back with some new adds; while it was nice to see McAvoy and Fassbender together one last time and the amazing Quicksilver with his epic and funny slow-motion scene, there were some flaws like the choice of the young Cyclops and Jean Grey. We also get to see a small "non-talking" cameo of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine during his Weapon-X storyline; that scene felt like it didn't belong there and raised more questions than answers with the new plot-holes.
- What I liked most: Quicksilver's scene, the main duo together one last time, Fassbender's performance
- What I didn't like: Just like in the previous movies, Mystique's (J.Lawrence) role is too expanded and boring. I prefered the old and mysterious Mystique. Jean Greay's young version doesn't feel like the Jean we always loved. The ending and entire plot is too simple and flat...

:: Finding Dory ::
Nemo, Marlin and Dory are back. This time Dory gets lost while trying to find her parents using her short-timed memory. There she will meet some new and exciting friends like Hank, the octopus and some old friends she forgot. it's fun to watch all your favourite characters together one more time. Finding Dory is kinda a copy-paste from the original film but there are a few more action sequences and some cute and very funny new characters. This time, Pixar tries a more family movie with some sad moments that will make you sheed your tears and some cute/funny moments with a really happy ending, what you always expect.
- What I liked most: The change to discover Dory's past and learning she had an even sadder story than Nemo. The main characters are well welcomed, especially Hank (octopus) and Becky (bird).
- What I didn't like: Same old, same old. Don't expect something new or thrilling. It's a very predictable film still fun to watch.

:: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows ::
I actually wasn't expecting to watch it but I've heard it was better than the last movie so I gave it a try. The turtles are back better than ever. Megan Fox replays the role of April O'Neil and Will Arnet comesback as Vernon Fenwick (aka. the funny guy) and we get two new villians from the original TV Show, the infamous and "disgusting" (by the way he looks) Krank with other two iconic characters: Rocksteady and Bebop. The plot is easy and a mess sometimes, if you try to forget that, you will have a good time and some good laughs. It's an entertaining popcorn film that won't let you think too much. The action sequences are over the top.
- What I liked most: Much better than the last film, much funnier with better action sequences. The fact to see your favourite characters in the big screen.
- What I didn't like: Simple and messy plot, you cannot take the movie too seriously.
7.2
:: The BFG ::
It seems like Steven Spielberg is missing his touch in "The BFG", it doesn't look like he directed it. An orphan who believes in giants meets one by accident and is taken to their world. There she discovers that even giants get bullied and she will try everything to help her new friend. This looked like a nice idea but it seems like the best from the movie already shows up in the trailer, do not expect much more. There are some cute moments about dreams and nightmares but the moment where the giant and others start farting is just embarassing...
- What I liked most: The idea of the plot, the special effects (especially the ones with lights and shadows), the main giant seems like the best friend you always wanted.
- What I didn't like: Some moments are to embarassing to watch, even for children...
6.2
:: Now You See Me 2 ::
The four horsemen are back but this time they get outnumbered by a new villian who uses technology to defeat magic. This villian asks them to get a special chip that will make him enter into every computer in the world but the real intentions are far worse than expected... The entire cast is back (with the exception of Isla Fisher, who I missed so much while watching it) and this time they confront no other but Daniel Radcliffe. The acting is great and it is an enjoyable movie with great mysteries unsolved from the first movie. It is quite obvious some of the magic tricks shown in the film are CGI but they still try to explain and act them like if they were real. The final trick is amazing and totally unexpected with a couple of original twists.
- What I liked most: The entire cast, from Jesse Eisenberg to Daniel Radcliffe to Michael Caine to Mark Ruffalo...so many good actors in here! It's a fun movie to watch if you don't over think it plus the ending is surprising!
- What I didn't like: It feels a lot like the original film (which is not a bad thing), I expected new and exciting tricks but the ones we got were to simple and predictable...

:: Jason Bourne ::
Jason Bourne is back and he remembers everything. That's what they say in the trailer but he doesn't remember every detail unfortunately. The new CIA boss, played perfectly by Tommy Lee Jones recruits a new cyber-manager (played by Alicia Vikander) to hunt down the greatest spy/secret agent/assassin Jason Bourne. Matt Damon is back and he delivers an over the top performance. Just like it sounds, the acting of the cast is pure diamond but the main problem is the plot; if you've seen the last entries of the Bourne Trilogy, you already know what to expect. There are no surprises, even the action scenes feel unoriginal. The best part is at the ending during Las Vegas chase and there's nothing new we haven't seen before...
- What I liked most: The cast amazing performances! Matt Damon shines as Bourne!
- What I didn't like: The plot is the same as always, we don't get much more than the last parts plus the action sequences are nothing new.
