Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - Review

:: RATED S.S. FOR SUPER SPOILERS - READ AT YOUR OWN RISK ::

One of the most awaited movies of 2016 has arrived with huge expectations but horrible reviews claiming it's one of the worst super-hero films ever released... My personal opinion, it's just a different film that you can't compare to others.

First of all, this is not a Marvel movie, I think people are used to movies like Avengers, Iron Man and Spiderman to name a few. The Dark Knight trilogy gave us a more serious tone and feeling but Batman v Superman is another story, not better either worse but different, it's a like it or hate it. Don't get me wrong, I love Marvel movies but the hate towards this film is too much.

Right after the events of "Man of Steel", we see an older and cruelest Bruce Wayne who doesn't like Superman's actions after almost destroying the entire city of Metropolis and killing innocent lifes. He thinks Superman is dangerous and can destroy the entire planet easily. Meanwhile he's trying to get his hands in something Lex Luthor is also looking for: kriptonite.
The entire world is divided by the ones who think Superman is dangerous and the ones who think he's a god who just tries to help people and Luthor isn't helping, he makes terror attacks to blame him and make the world hate him. Luthor is a psychopat, he just wants to see Batman and Superman fight each other and would do anything (literally) to make it happen.
In between there's this mysterious woman, Diana Prince, who's also looking for something Luthor has of her, she gets in the middle of Wayne's path and we discover she's no other than Wonder Woman.
At the end the movie there is an intense fight between the Dark Knight and the Son of Krypton who later will join forces (along with Wonder Woman) to defeat a horrible experiment Luthor has been planning.

Henry Cavill is back as Clark Kent (also known as Superman) after the events of "Man Of Stell" but he has to face the events that almost destroyed Metropolis. His acting is as good as in the previous film making a realistic super-hero who only wants to help people, same old same old, nothing new to tell.
Back when this movie was announced, everybody screamed in anger when they confirmed Ben Affleck as the new Batman. He's a good actor and a great director but no one will ever forget "Daredevil", one of the worst superhero movies ever (along with Green Lantern but that's just my opinion) where Ben was the main character. People thought he wasn't a good choice to play the dark knight, I also thought the same thing and I was quite angry as Batman's my favourite superhero.

BUT then I watched BvS and he becomes the hightlight of the film showing us a more believable and darker knight who doesn't differ so much between his two personas and doesn't care what to do to make justice right. One of the things I loved was the way he fights (remembers to the Arkham games) but the detail I didn't like in his version was the fact he actually kills people all the time (we all know Batman never kills). This was a huge change from previous versions of the Bat but not a big deal as he's an older and angrier version, so you can kinda think he's changed his ways. Really enjoyed his performance as Bruce Wayne too.

The supporting cast is back, Amy Adams as Lois Lane and Diane Lane as Martha Kent to name a couple; they reprise the same role in the same "brilliant" way. Plus a few new adds like the great Jeremy Irons as Alfred who has become the greatest Batman's butler in the film history who kinda looks and sounds like an older version of Tony Stark...
Then there's the "bad guy", the infamous Lex Luthor played weirdly by Jesse Eisenberg; this is a younger and much more insane version of Lex who seems like has seen "The Dark Knight" too many times and wants to become a new version of the Joker himself. It's a different take from this character which I kinda enjoyed sometimes but becomes annoying at the end.

And last but not least, Diana Prince. Some fans just went to watch this movie because of her, the first movie released in cinemas where we get to see Wonder Woman in action. The good news is that we get to see her fight at all her glory in the last fight wearing the iconic costume...the bad news is that she only has three more scenes in the movie where she does nothing but walking around. Gal Gadot does a good job, she really fits in Wonder Woman's persona but we do not get so much of her in BvS, we'll have to wait for her own movie next year.

Forget about other superhero movies, this one is not for kids neither has comedy scenes. It's a more realistic and darker thone where we get to see them in their worst moments of life trying to survive or do what has to be done while some people are against them, including the goverment itself. The first half of the movie tell us some of the origins of Batman and his reasons of hating Superman plus the after events of the fight between Superman and General Zod, it has a couple of nice action sequences but it's mostly getting ready for a final confrontation.

The second half is like a prequel of the upcoming "Justice League" film with more action where we see a couple of scenes where we get a glimpse for the other heroes from the Leage like the Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg. This is the part where we finally get that awaited fight between the two heroes and later joining forces along with Wonder Woman to fight Doomsday, one of the longest and most intense fights I've seen with a kinda unexpected ending where Superman sacrifices himself to destroy that creature (I said spoilers!) but that doesn't mean Superman is actually death because, just like in the comics, there's always a way to comeback and we get a very tenny-weeny glimpse.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is a darker and more serious superhero movie than the ones we are used to from Marvel. While Superman himself should be the protagonist here it is actually Batman who steals the show played perfectly by Ben Affleck. We get a glimpse about what's coming next for Wonder Woman and the Justice League. BvS will become a love it or hate it film but all I can say is I cannot wait what's next!

· LIKED: Ben Affleck's Batman - Great casting - Wonder Woman! - Final Fight - Justice League glimpse.

· HATED: Jesse Eisenberg's crazy Luthor - Too slow and political - Could had more from Wonder Woman...
