Dumb and Dumber To - Review

After a long wait of 20 years and thinking this movie was never going to be made. The sequel of the original Dumb and Dumber and one of the funniest comedies ever made joining, once again, the great Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels.
I really never expected they were going to shoot this film; Jeff Daniels didn't have a problem to make it but Jim Carrey wasn't so sure as he never likes to do sequels but, after a huge paycheck, it seems like he changed his mind.

Set twenty years after the events from the first film, Lloyd Christmas (Carrey) has been in a mental hospital for this entire time only but to make a joke to his friend Harry Dunne (Daniels) who has a medical disease and finds out he has a daughter. After seeing her pictore, Lloyd falls in love deeply with her and convinces his dummy friend to travel across country to find her.

As you can see, the plot is very deep and confusing but we don't care about the story of the film but the change to see these two men together again doing the dumbess and craziest stuff you can imagine. The first film is way better, it was original and really unexpected so don't think the sequel will be any better but that doesn't mean it is not enjoyable. There's a joke or something funny every minute, some of those will make you say "Ugh", some others will make you smile while other ones will make you laugh very hard.

The acting is great from the main duo, it has been a blast watching Carrey and Daniels once again, their characters are dumber than the last film and expect to see them do even crazier stuff. The rest of the casting is okay, special mention to Rachel Mervin who plays Penny, Harry's suposed daughter, as a dummy young woman who does the same things like Lloyd.

If I had to choose a scene, it would be the one that shows up in the trailer where Harry calls his daughter but Lloyd picks it up and answers thinking it's his death dad. This has become an instant classic in comedy. Another bits were really funny like the one with the fireworks and the one when they go to the wrong address written on the letter.

· What I liked: Seeing Carrey and Daniels together one more time! Some of the scenes were really funny but...

· What I didn't like: ...some other scenes weren't that much. The plot has nothing special to follow it, it's only about the jokes and funny stuff they do during the film.

7.2

Even if the film feels short, it is a really enjoyable moment while watching it. I don't remember the last time I laughed so much in a new comedy movie, they should do more sequels and less reboots! I don't know if we'll see a third part but if they do, I hope they fix those little things they missed.
