Doctor Who - Series 8 Review

Series 8 has ended with a bang! I was a huge fan of David Tennant and I tought nobody could be better than him as the Doctor but I was wrong. Peter Capaldi has exceed my expectations becoming the best and my personal favourite Doctor ever! Maybe some of the episodes weren't that exciting but with him in each one of them is enough reason to watch them!
I already did a review from the first episodes but I'll paste them here so it's the full series... here we go!

Episode 1 : Deep Breath

The first one, Capaldi's debut, while the plot is nothing that we haven't seen (Ok, maybe the dinosaur bit is new), it is still a great episode and the acting from the new Doctor is just speechless...you can read the entire review at this link:

Episode 2 : Into the Dalek

The Doctor is called to a space station where they fix and cure different kind of aliens but this time they've got something unusual...a Dalek! It has been so damaged it has become good repeating "Daleks must be exterminated!". The Doctor thinks it's so impossible his enemy has become good that he tries to help him entering inside the Dalek where they find out, after fixing it, it was just a computer error that made him good and after that he calls a Dalek army to try defeat the humans.

Quote of the episode: "You looked inside me and you saw hatred. That's no victory. Victory would've been a good Dalek."

·What I liked: The change to see a Dalek from the inside and how a good one is possible. I really liked the Doctor in here as it's still a little confused after the regeneration but still tries his best to become the Dalek a good one again!

· What I didn't like: The plot too simple and it is not a so fascinating adventure for the new Doctor, the Daleks are being over used too much.

7.8 / 10

Episode 3 : Robot of Sheerwood

The Doctor asks Clara who she would like to meet from the history but the Doctor is not okay with her answer. Going to the middle ages at the Forests of Sheerwood where the legendary Robin Hood was suposed to live...the Doctor disagrees claiming Robin Hood was just a legend and not real but they meet someone who looks and acts a lot like him. The Doctor tries everything to make Clara understand it is just a coincidence but they discover a plot from some aliens while a new kind of robots kidnapp them.

Quote of the episode: "No castles, no damsels in distress, no such thing as Robin Hood!"

· What I liked: The entire Doctor vs. Robin Hood, their arguments and fights including the amazing and funny competition with arrows. The bad guy is also quite good but he doesn't have a much important role, shame...

· What I didn't like: This episode was funny to watch but nothing interesting or special about it, it doesn't add anything to rest of the season plot...

7.5 / 10

Episode 4 : Listen

The best episode from 8th season so far! After a scary moment while being alone in the Tardis, the Doctor remembers something from his childhood and tries to solve the msytery of the same nightmare every person in the universe has, at least, once in their lives. Explained by the Doctor himself: "You wake up, or you think you do, and there’s someone in the dark, someone close, or you think there might be. So you sit up, turn on the light, and the room looks different at night. It ticks and creaks and breathes. And you tell yourself there’s nobody there, nobody watching, nobody listening. Nobody there at all … and you very nearly believe it. You really, really try. And then … " They go to Clara's past (or at least, he thinks) and investigate from the past of Mr. Pink (Clara's new "boyfriend") to the past of the Doctor himself discovering a curious thing about this horror plot.

Quote of the episode: Too many good ones, but to choose just one: "Question, why do we talk out loud even when we know we're alone. Conjecture, because we know we're not."

· What I liked: The mistery of this old nightmare, the Doctor surprises me once again with his selfish persona claiming "I don't take orders". Also discovering the Doctor's childhood for the first ime ever in this show was very unexpected.

· What I didn't like: The episode was amazing but to point out something, Clara's getting to much main role now, even more than the Doctor...

Episode 5 : Time Heist

The Doctor and Clara wake up with two other people sitting around a table and a message from a man who calls himself "The Arquitect" tells them they have agreed to robe the most secure bank in the universe. They just were beaten with the memory worm and forgot why they agreed to that. They must discover the truth and what's the bank hidding by fighting a horrible new monster that can read anyone's minds. The truth behind all this mistery gets solved with a huge final twist.

Quote of the episode: "Of course not, Boss. Robbin' a bank. Robbin' a whole bank. Beat that for a date."

· What I liked: The final twist was amazing and somehow unexpected. The entire episodeis very entertaining and makes you wanna watch it until the end to see how they robe the bank!

· What I didn't like: The design of that monster, you'll know why once you see it...

8.6 / 10

Episode 6 : The Caretaker

The Doctor has a new mission to save the world (one more time) but he wants to do it alone and tells Clara to pass this adventure. Then her surprise face appears when she sees the Doctor claiming to be the new caretaker of the school where she's a teacher (I'm John Smith, but you can call me the Doctor). While he acts like he's a real caretaker, he's actually setting a trap for an alien/robot that's killing people and hiding in the shadows. At the same time, he's spying Clara and tries to discover who her new boyfriend (Mr. Pink) might be. This is the funniest episode of all since I remember!

Quote of the episode: "How can you think that I'm her dad when we both look exactly the same age" and "Good to see you, now get lost."

· What I liked: The funny parts of the episode plus seeing a funnier side of this new Doctor making me like him even more than before! The entire plot of the killer robot and setting the trap is impressive.

· What I didn't like: Actually, I loved every bit of it!

9.0 / 10

Episode 7 : Kill the Moon

Another mission to save the world, the moon is acting strange, it doesn't have gravity and the people from Earth, scared about it, decide to blow it up but they're stopped by the Doctor while trying to figure out what's happening and trying survive after some strange aliens appear trying to kill them. Until they discover an unexpected secret at the end about the moon.

Quote of the episode: "Listen. We went to dinner in Berlin in 1937, right?  We didn’t nip out after pudding and kill Hitler.  I’ve never killed Hitler and you wouldn’t expect me to kill Hitler."

· What I liked: The entire plot twist about the moon, really unexpected and weird but awesome

· What I didn't like: The supporting cast wasn't that good this time and I didn't agree to the way Clara acts against the Doctor at the end.

8.5 / 10

Episode 8 : Mummy on the Orient Express

There's tension between the Doctor and Clara after the events from last episode. It looks like it will be their last adventure together and that's why they choose a calm one but then a mummy who can be seen just by the victim appears in the Orient Express killing specific people. Then the Doctor's curiosity begins and joins a group of people who tries to discover the mistery. At thee end, everybody is saved including their relationship.

Quote of the episode: " I’m the Doctor and I will be your victim this evening.  Are you my mummy?"

· What I liked: The detective work from the Doctor and the entire mistery about the mummy, it really makes it interesting!

· What I didn't like: The tension between the two protagonists was a little exaggerated and out of picture.

8.8 / 10

Episode 9 : Flatline

Clara becomes the Doctor after something happens to the Tardis making it smaller than usual while the Doctor was still inside. While we can hear his voice from an earpiece, she's the one in charge calling herself the Doctor. Then a strange two-dimensional appears and tries to conquer the planet by making humans the same kind as them. The Doctor, once again, saves the planet and tells Clara she has done a fantastic job.

Quote of the episode: "Could you just let me enjoy this moment of not knowing something?  I mean, it happens so rarely."

· What I liked: The mistery of the two-dimensional body stealers, very original. The tiny Tardis and the Doctor trying to solve the case while being stucked inside.

· What I didn't like: The supporting cast wasn't that good. Too much Clara, again...

8.7 / 10

Episode 10 : In the Forest of the Night

This might the weakest episode from this season but it still has some funny moments. The city of London (and the entire planet) has been filled by a gigantic forest covering every inch of Earth. The Doctor finds a little girl, who's from the same school where Clara and Danny work, that can see what's about to happen. Meanwhile, Clara and her boyfriend are with some other kids from school in a visit at the Zoo. After finding that London has been covered with trees and vegetation, they find the Doctor wih the little girl and discover that the planet is about to be destroyed by a solar eruption. The trees are just a shield so nobody gets harmed, but humans still cut them off and destroy our forests...

Quote of the Episode: "So, what, you think that’s how spring begins? With a  group message on Tree Facebook? Do you think they send texts to each other?"

· What I liked: The plot was very simple but fun to watch the city looking like a forest. The Doctor's funny moments with the children and acting like a teacher!

· What I didn't like: The kids in the episode are irritating!

Episode 12 - Death in Heaven

The finale and last episode from the series, an amazing ending filled with fun, sadness and intrigue! Read my full review in this link:

9.5 / 10

Ok, so the Eight season is over now but we have a glimpse where Santa Claus enters into the Tardis asking the Doctor help. Santa will be played by the funy Nick Frost and they have confirmed we'll see Clara and Danny once more time, maybe they'll have a happier ending, I really hope so!
This series has become my favourite one thanks to Peter Capaldi awesomeness!
