The Day of the Doctor - Review

"Mild Spoilers" of the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who Special.

The Doctor is back in this special that looks like a movie after the amazing ending from "The Name of the Doctor" where John Hurt was introduced as the Doctor himself...was it worth the wait? Hell, yes!

First with the plot: The Time War is coming to an end as the War Doctor (John Hurt) is about to destroy Gallifrey with an artifact that simulates the body and personality of the Bad Wolf aka. Rose Tyler...there, the Doctor is not sure about what to do and how he will be remembered, so he goes to the future to meet two of his next generations.
Two great Doctors together in the same movie,
fun is for sure going to happen!

Before that, the eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith) discovers an old painting of Gallifrey and another broken paintings where "something" has come out from them...and also finds a beautiful portray of Queen Victoria with the tenth incarnation of the Doctor (David Tennant), then a time portal is open and the eleventh's goes in and arrives to old England where the Tenth's there with the old Queen herself looking for some strange aliens that can copy another humans and animals.

It's in there where the three Doctors meet for the first time ever and while they find out about the plan of those weird red aliens to conquer the world in the future, the War Doctor also discovers the regrets his future self's have about him and together will elaborate a new plan in order to save "somehow" their home planet and destroy the Daleks.

Now to the acting: Matt Smith does a good job as always, David Tennant is the perfect Doctor and he shines in here as he always does, the time he appears for the first time is, as he always is, funny and in a big way. Jenna Coleman does a good job too as Billie Piper coming back as Bad Wolf...but it's a shame she appears so little in the movie. John Hurt is a nice surprise, while I was expecting to see an evil Doctor, he's actually a man who is ashamed on what he's going to do, you will like him and see him as a Doctor as much as I did for sure. The entire cast works perfectly!

Now for some spoilers about a few surprises on the movie: The three actors work very well
John Hurt makes an excellent War Doctor but I expected him to be
more dangerous or angrier...
together if not excellent, the part where Queen Victoria marries Tennant's Doctor is funny and unexpected, the final action scene where all the Doctors appear with their Tardis to save their planet is amazing, I had some tears in my eyes while watching that scene and I'm sure every Who fan will love it!!

Now to the two surprises of the film: the first appearance of Peter Capaldi as the new Doctor (only one second of cameo) is amazing, everybody in the cinema started clapping when he appeared and the last scene, it's hard to make so many people clap and scream only in a second of his eyes, he will be a great Doctor. Also the scene where the one and only Tom Baker (the fourth Doctor) appears talking to Matt Smith is speechless and emotional to see one of the greatest actors from the past of Doctor Who showing himself again!

· The Best of this movie is for sure the amazing acting of the entire cast, being able to watch David Tennant once more (he even says his famous last words "I don't wanna go" again....so touching) and the first time we see the new Doctor plus the entire plot that fits perfectly with the Who Universe!!

· The Worst is maybe a few plot holes that will make you think like the number of regenerations he has left or the entire plot story about the Time War (I remember that he said a long time ago the Time Lord were very bad people and that's why he destroyed them) . Also, the monsters that can copy other humans are not very interesting and not important in the movie but they appear too much! Also I'd have liked to see more of Billie Piper.
