What is Hatsune Miku?

This is the figure I saw in the shop. Cute, isn't it?
This is going to be a different post, not a review but some information. Last week I went to an asian store and I saw a little cute figure from a young girl who looked very cute and it seemed like it was from an anime or something like that, well I was wrong... I went into the store and ask them about "her", they answered me and I looked it up.

Her name is Hatsune Miku and it seems like she is a huge hit in Japan, she's not from an anime or any manga, she's a singer but she's not real...I was like "Say What?!" when reading it and I started investigating a little bit. She's a humanoid persona from a singing synthesizer called "Vocalid" along with other characters. Her voice is sampled from Japanese voice actress Saki Fujita. Hatsune Miku has performed at her concerts onstage as an animated projection.

She is portrayed to be a 16-year-old girl with long turquoise pigtails and, since 2007, the company decided to make her a virtual singer diva, she has more than one hundred thousand songs thanks to the softwarem to create new songs from the fans and upload them on the internet.
This success became evey crazier after they started making live concerts as an hologram, it became a huge hit in Japan so they started releasing her music and "live" shows in the west and now has become a worldwide icon thanks to the adverstising.

I've seen some videos and I have to agree they (whoever those people are) have done it very well, she looks like she's on stage but you can't help but to figure out she's not real (it's not that hard to see, you know?). Her songs and her voice sound very "computer generated" but that doesn't mean they're bad, I even prefer her songs to other ones from this "disgusting" music era we are right now, hers are very sweet and catchy. Even knowing Hatsune Miku is not real, you cannot say the same to her songs as they have been made by real people and that's not easy job.

I must say I kinda like her, her design is cute with those long blue pigtais and it suits with her voice plus the movements are very realistic, however, it looks like it's too computer generated as it repeats too much some movements. Her songs are in japanese and it is really hard to understand them but the melody is sweet and very good to hear. But I must say it feels kinda creepy while watching her because you know it is not real, there's no one on the stage, it is just a hologram, a freaking screen projecting a girl, it is a mixed up feeling, it makes you ask yourself "What's going to be next?" I know, they will make a robot of her!!

For now, she has been the opening act at Lady Gaga's american tour and now she's starting getting her own concerts in the US, so let's see and wait what's going to happen next and if she's going to become a music legend, even knowing she's not real...

Now, one of those concert videos I was talking about, so you can't say I was lying...
