The Fifth Estate Review
I'm quite sure this film is not going to be a hit like some others because of the press and Julian Assange himself, I have to add it is not an awesome film as it shows only the view from people who are against Wikileaks...and it should show the founder's view as well, something that doesn't do.
The film explains everything Wikileaks has done from 2007 to 2010 and nothing more, it explains the story of how Daniel Berg becomes partner with Julian Assange to show the secrets to the world by internet. The film remembers a little bit to "The Social Network" but this one doesn't arrive to the same level.
The main character is interpreted excellent by Benedict Cumberbatch, he does an amazing job and he is the main (and only) reason to watch this movie, he really deserves an academy award as he makes Assange look like himself...the sad part is that we don't see the 100% of Assange here, only what they want us to see...
The rest of the cast is average only with the exception of the future Doctor Who, Peter Capaldi and Daniel Berg as the only "friend" of Wikileaks's founder. The cinematic is well done with the names of the cities showing so many times in giant letters plus the camera angles are good too.
What I really liked in the film is the last scene where we see Benedict's Assange acting as he was being interviewed, he does it very realistic and even asking about the same movie we are watching. It's a film worth watching, quite entertaining and with an amazing acting of the main actor.
· BEST - Benedict Cumberbatch acting is amazing, worth Oscar winning!!
· WORST - The film has nothing special or new to show if you already know it story plus...it's anti-Wikileaks.
1. Star Trek Into Darkness (9.5)
2. Iron Man 3 (8.7)
